We’ll work with our lab partners to ensure that your new crown matches the shade of your existing teeth, and to incorporate natural-looking features like grooves and other surface details. To begin the process, Dr. Luminais will clean the treatment area, and then numb your mouth. Once your mouth is numb, your dentist will use a dental drill to trim away any damaged or decayed tooth material. Then, they will continue trimming your tooth to prepare it for your crown.
Once your tooth has been trimmed, your dentist will take impressions and images of your teeth. These will be sent to a dental lab, where a crown will be built to match your natural teeth. Dr. Luminais will attach a temporary crown to your tooth, then send you home.
It may take a few weeks for us to get your final dental crown. Once we do, you’ll come back to Brightly Dental for another appointment. Your dentist will remove your temporary crown, clean the area, then attach your permanent crown with dental cement. After one final polishing, you’ll be sent home to enjoy your newly-restored tooth.

The lifespan of a dental crown depends on the amount of wear and tear the crown is exposed to, as well as your personal mouth-related habits, and how well you maintain your oral hygiene. The process for getting a dental crown typically involves two visits to our Bogalusa, LA office. During the first visit, Dr. Luminais will examine the tooth and prepare it for the crown. If the tooth is severely damaged or broken, the doctor may need to fill it in to ensure it can support the crown. After the tooth is prepared, Dr. Luminais will take an impression of the tooth and the surrounding teeth, which will be used to custom-make your dental crown. A temporary crown will be put in place to protect the prepared tooth while the permanent crown is being made. During the second visit, the temporary crown is removed, and the permanent crown is cemented onto the tooth.

Teeth cleanings and oral exams help ensure that your mouth is healthy, and allow our team to catch any potential issues early.
